Stockholm was on my list for a while and we finally visited it at the beginning of October. We were lucky to celebrate their Cinnamon Bun Day on the 4th of October. You guessed, my main objective was to taste as many cinnamon and cardamom buns as possible. Still, I also discovered a beautiful and clean city with many green areas, tasty food, and a friendly vibe. The weather was warmer than I expected for this time of the year and I’m also curious to discover this city during summer as well. Next, I will share our favorite spots in Stockholm.
I will start with our Airbnb because it was a special and cozy shared apartment, although it was shared with the owner, we had a secluded and very comfortable room. The place is situated in a central area, I leave you below some nice photos I took there, including a delicious vanilla cream bun/krämbullen from Lillebrors Bageri that looked so nice on that marble window sill.
Here are my favorite bakeries and coffee shops, I had a long list and only 3 days at my disposal. My favorite bakery was Lillebrosrs Bageri, they have such a delicious cardamom bun, the best I had, and also really nice vanilla cream buns, we returned there for a second time right on the Cinnamon bun day and a lot of people were waiting for the warm buns. I love the fact that you can see the process behind in almost all the bakeries, it’s a nice experience.
In the same neighborhood, there is a coffee shop that I loved, we have also been there twice, the name of the place is Cafe Pascal, the coffee was really good, so was their pastrami sandwich and the vibe of the place is really welcoming and cozy.
Another bakery and coffee shop that we liked is Stora bageriet, they have plenty of space outside too, their cinnamon bun tastes just like Christmas.
Another hype place for coffee and goodies is Svedjan Bageri, from there you can have a nice walk to a nice view point where you can see the old town, Gamla Stan, then you can grab some delicious fish streetfood at Strömmingsvagnen or have a beer and a burger in Sodermalm area, or maybe some traditional meatballs. We tried the ones from Meatballs for the people. For dinner you can warm yourself up with a delicious ramen at Tokyo Ramen.
If you love shipwrecks you should definitely visit Vasa museum and admire this amazing XVII century shipwreck that is preserved in great shape and has an amazing story then you can explore the open air Skansen museum and Rosendals gardens. Make sure to admire the sunsets, we were lucky to see some beautiful ones, oh and also check out the metro stations, some of them look like a scene from a Sci Fi movie.
