I had so much fun filming the recipe video for these delicious Turkish delight soft cones as they were inspired by the new Netflix series Griselda, there was a lot of powdered sugar in the air after shooting. These cones are super soft and the secret is in the lard, you can also use butter instead but you will have to trust me, lard makes them so much better.

Turkish Delight soft cones

For approx. 80 pieces of Turkish Delight soft scones you will need:

550 flour

200g lard

50g powdered sugar

2 egg yolks

2-3 tablespoons of cold water

The peel of a lemon

A teaspoon of vanilla essence

4-5 large cubes of Turkish delight cut into small pieces

200g vanilla powdered sugar for sprinkling on top

Turkish Delight soft cones

Mix all the ingredients (minus the Turkish delight and vanilla powder sugar), knead with your hands until you get a bound dough. Divide into 3 equal parts in the form of a ball and leave them in a cool place (but not in the refrigerator) for 30 minutes. Roll out each ball of dough on a floured surface, then cut out the dough using a 20cm diameter plate to give the dough a round shape. Cut the dough into 16 triangles, put a piece of Turkish delight at the end of each triangle, and roll it into a cone shape. The tip of the Turkish Delight soft cones must be at the bottom so that it does not come off during baking. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Dust them with powdered sugar once you’ve taken them out of the oven. You can also make them with a thick plum jam mixed with crushed walnuts instead of Turkish delight. Enjoy the Turkish Delight soft cones warm or cold, you can store them in a tin box with a lead on for several days but I am sure they won’t last that long as they are too addictive.
